Rich Pinnell

Guild Mortgage - Reverse Mortgage Specialist

In 2013 I decided I needed to reduce the amount of travel I was doing (mom was in her 80s and wanted me to be around a bit more) so after talking with a friend who was a partner in a local mortgage company, I went through the process of becoming a register loan officer. While I had always been around real estate (buying/selling etc) I had never worked in the industry, the loan officer position seems to fit my gift of working with people and an aptitude for numbers (financial reports, etc). The first month I was handed a client that wanted to purchase a home with a reverse mortgage and the race was on, I found I loved that part of the mortgage lending business and quickly became the “office” expert in reverse mortgages. Over the next few years, as I did more and more reverse mortgages, I found that the blessing a reverse mortgage could be to our senior citizens was amazing, it changed people’s lives, and it made their retirement years far better. Sometimes it meant a senior could age in place (by making their home save for years to come), sometimes it meant they would get to take trips, sometimes, as one client did they could buy a new car without taking on new payments. For the last 6 years, I’ve worked exclusively in Reverse Mortgages, and it’s been a wonderful experience. My involvement with the Legacy Team has been based on my belief that the more seniors I can reach out to, in the process of educating them about the available options, the huge the benefit to those seniors.
